Frequently Asked Questions

What brand of hose reels do you sell?

The smaller line of machines are the Micro Rain brand, and the larger line of machines are the OCMIS brand.

How do I determine what size hose reel irrigation system I need?

A good rule of thumb is it takes 5 gallons per minute (GPM) per acre to ensure adequate irrigation. Multiply 5 GPM by the number of acres you plan to irrigate to get total GPM. Match this number to the hose reel model that can produce that GPM.

How much does a hose reel irrigation system cost?

This depends on the brand and model of the hose reel. The smallest hose reel that we sell is less than $4,000, while one of the largest that we sell is over $42,000. Any underground pipeline, risers, pumps, etc. that are needed are an additional cost.

How much water do I need to run a hose reel irrigation system?

This depends on the size of the hose on the water reel. The smallest water reel that we sell has a 3/4” hose and a water requirement range of 3.2 – 9.5 GPM, while one of the largest that we sell has a 3” hose and a water requirement range of 185 – 320 GPM.

What if I don’t have enough water pressure to run the hose reel system I want to use?

Booster pumps are available if you do not have enough water pressure to run the hose reel you’re interested in.

Can hose reels only be used as farm irrigation systems?

Not at all! In addition to being great pasture irrigation systems, hose reels can also be used for sports field irrigation, artificial turf maintenance and cooling, and dust suppression in arenas.
